Stephen R. Patterson, Of Counsel

Stephen R. Patterson is Of Counsel to McCormick & Friman, LLC. His practice includes land use and zoning, real estate transactions and financing, office, commercial and retail leasing, Tax Increment Financing (TIF), economic development, regulatory compliance, and government relations and lobbying. He has represented Fortune 500 corporations, developer entities and single family homeowners throughout the Chicago metropolitan region. Stephen counsels clients in a variety of complex real estate development projects that involve multiple sources of financing and complicated governmental approval processes. His projects have involved special use permits, planned unit development ordinances, multi-party easement agreements, annexation agreements, redevelopment agreements, complex transportation and storm water detention improvements, and a variety of other entitlements.

Stephen began his career in the public sector, working as an attorney for the City of Chicago in a variety of roles, including liquor licensing, economic development and public finance, and land use and zoning. He subsequently became the senior land use attorney in the Chicago office of an Am Law 100 law firm.

Stephen graduated from DePaul University with a double-major in History and Political Science, later secured a Master of Public Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and received his law degree from the DePaul University College of Law. Stephen is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association, and has been an active member of the Board of Directors of two local charitable organizations.
